The match

We nip up the valley to meet Enfield under lights.  It will be their sixth league game of the season and our seventh.  Can it be October with still so few matches played?  That’s the down side of playing the FA Cup and Trophy qualifying rounds.  Enfield have garnered 4 points so far and sit in 17th place in the table.  We are looking to improve on our 12 points which have been enough to lift us into the play-off places.

Both teams were at home at the weekend with Enfield losing 3-0 to Aylesbury United whilst Ware won by the same score against Rayners Lane.  Over confidence engrendered by those results could well be our biggest enemy.  Let’s not forget that Enfield knocked Ilford out of the FA Cup after we had failed to get the better of them in the previous round.

Enfield will be without their captain Matthew Hurley who was red carded at Flackwell Heath last Tuesday.  Former Ware player Freddy Moncur was in that game and may well be playing on Wednesday.

Last season’s meetings ended in a 1-1 (Gabriel Chapps) draw away and a 2-1 win at home (Sam Mayuma and Johnny Allotey).

The officials

The referee for this game is Joseph Gray who will be assisted by Tommy Fleming and Nazarij Bilanovszkij.
