You ask, we answer.

Questions on stats, history, seasons, players, competitions ........

After last night’s win at Welwyn Garden City supporters asked when we last had such a run.

It’s not that long ago but depends on the setting.

League games

One answer appears to be in the 2022/3 season when we won five successive league games.

Coincidentally the run started with a 3-1 win at Herns Way on 29th August 2022 and continued with a 3-0 success at home to FC Romania, then 3-0 again at Didcot followed by yet another 3-0 at home to Kidlington before a 5-1 victory over Barton Rovers at Wodson Park on October 11th.  However that run was interrupted in two places, first by a 5-4 defeat to Royston in the senior cup and then a 2-1 set back at Witham in the FA Trophy.

All competitive games

If you want an uninterrupted run of wins then you need to look at the previous season when we won six league and cup games on the run.  That started with a 1-0 FA Cup win over Hashtag United on 21st August 2021 and continued through league games with Thame United (4-0 at home) and Hertford Town (2-1 at Bishop’s Stortford), then a 4-0 FA Cup win at Colney Heath before two more league games against Waltham Abbey (4-1 at home) and Bedford Town (3-2 away) on 14th September.

It might have gone on a bit longer as in our next game we drew at home to Hemel Hempstead in the FA Cup before beating them in the replay on the 21st September.

Can we extend the current run?

Will we make it six on the run in our next game at home to Beaconsfield Town?  We’ll give you the answer at 5pm this coming Saturday.
