Brian John Croucher, 10th April 1941 to 28th February 2026
Brian had been a long term supporter of Ware FC. I remember him and his brother Roy accompanying their father Charlie at games in the 1960s. More recently Brian attended games with his wife Maureen who did the driving when the team were away from home. They both usually stood behind the goal that Ware were attacking. Brian’s last major trip was to Kidderminster for an FA Cup replay and his last game was at Wodson Park when he joined more than 1500 people to watch Ware face North Leigh in the play-off final of 2022.
By then Brian was using a wheel chair and his health continued to deteriorate. He continued to follow the club’s results but never again came to a match. He died in his sleep in the early hours of last Saturday. The club extends its sympathy to Maureen and Brian’s wider family and friends.
Brian’s funeral will take place at 2pm on Wednesday, 25th March. It will be at Woollensbrook Cemetery & Crematorium in Hoddesdon. His family say that all are welcome to attend though flowers will be family only. They will update us with details of a charity to give donations to in Brian’s memory. Details of the wake are still to be finalised.
There are a number of photos either of Brian at the club or in groups of supporters. You can view the pictures here.
