The match
This is the county’s own FA Cup. A competition that has been in existence since the 1886/7 season when the first winners were near neighbours Hoddesdon Town. They went on to win it twice more but have not done so since 1890. We have won the competition five times, the last in 1954 when over 3,000 people watched the final. Those days have gone but after the FA Cup and Trophy this remains the next most important in our fixture list.
This is one of ten first round matches. Six sides have been given a bye to the second round. The winners of this match will travel to Cheshunt in the next round.
Form guide
Both sides play in the Southern League division one central. We currently lie second from bottom and the Scholars second from top. There are though likely to be changes in both line ups as managers give playing time to youth players and those in their squads who need to get some timeinto their legs.
Previous Meetings
We have met twice before in the Senior Cup. We scored a 1-0 home third round victory on January 9th 2001. Ian Hart scored our goal. We went on the beat Stevenage Borough in the semi-final but lost in the final, our fourth game in six days, one of which was the day before! The only other meeting in the competition came in the first round on 26th October 2021. We came away with a 2-0 away victory, our goals coming from Rechan Esprit and Dave Kendall. We went on to beat Enfield 5-1 in the next round but went out 3-2 against Hadley in the next round.
