The match
For Stotfold this is another match on a burgeoning run since their last defeat, a chance to consolidate their place in the play-offs. Ware will be looking to reinforce their confidence after gaining a first league win on Saturday. Once again there are two sides with the same ambition albeit for different reasons. We can expect another good contest to match Saurday’s game. This fixture also marks Paul Halsey reaching the milestone of 350 competitive games in his current period as manager (there were 22 games in a previous period). It’s a tough job so well done Paul. We will publish an appreciation of his achievements and stats later this week.
Form guide
Exactly like Marlow on Saturday, Stotfold come to us on a run of five wins followed by a draw. They are also one place below Marlow in the table but having played two games more. Ware will be hoping to continue Saturday’s form. It certainly looked more like the Ware of old. Did we see the future on Saturday?
Previous Meetings
It was the East Anglian Cup that first brought us together, two matches in the early 1980s bringing an away win to each side. A pre-season friendly in 1999 was arranged before we knew that we were drawn to meet in the FA Vase. Both games were lost. We first met in league competition when Stotfold came up into the Southern League for the 2023/4 season. The games were drawn one each that season but we then won the next three with a 13 to 5 goal aggregate before losing last season’s meeting at Stotfold by 3-0.

Match Officials
It’s just over a year since Joseph Gray last had charge of one of our matches, a 4-0 win away to Enfield (Reece Beckles-Richards with a hat trick and a Theo Ofori penalty (we missed a second penalty shortly after the first). This will be Mr Gray’s first time with Ware since then. The assistant referees are also new to Wodson Park as far as I can tell. They are Toby Andrews and Lewis Moore. A welcome to all three.
