The FA Youth Cup
Ware have reached this point in the competition after a 3-0 away win over West Essex and a home win by the same score over Hackney Wick.
In previous seasons we have reached the competition proper, beating MK Dons in their own stadium on one occasion and taking Gillingham to the wire at Wodson Park. Like its equivalent for adult teams the competition always holds out the hope of a glamorous fixture and both sides in this match will have their eyes on such a possibility.
Aveley have reached this stage with two home wins, 4-0 against Potters Bar Town in the preliminary round and 5-3 over Woodford Town in the first qualifying round.
More games this weekend
Don’t forget that there are two more youth games at Wodson Park on Sunday. The under-15s take on Cambridge City at midday whilst the under-17s face Heybridge Swifts at 2pm. Both matches are in the EJA league cups for the respective age groups. As always entry to Sunday youth games is free with the tea bar and clubroom open throughout.
