Our opponents
Near neighbours to Natuional League Hemel Hempstead, The Green have come out from under their shadow in recent seasons. They achieved senior status in the early 1990s when they joined the South Midlands League. Leverstock Green finished fourth in the 2023/4 season and defied the odds to win the play-offs and gain promotion to the Southern League. They defied the odds again in their first season at Step 4. Having spent much of the season in a relegation position they won six of their last eight league matches to pull clear. The most telling of their victories was a 3-0 success over near neighbours Kings Langley whose final results were the opposite of Leverstock’s and condemned them to relegation instead. There were no such worries last season with a mid-table finish.
Form guide
After Saturday’s draw at Hertford, Leverstock have escaped the relegation zone. They have one more point than Ware but have played two games more. Both sides are without a league win so far.
Ware started their season well enough and enjoyed some good results in both the FA Cup and Trophy. Translating that into league success has proved difficult. Blues had a very comfortable win over The Green in the FA Cup earlier this season but have failed to maintain any consistency since then.
Previous Meetings
We’re becoming familiar with each other. There are now seven previous games, five in less than two years with this being the sixth. We’ve won four and drawn one of the seven. The most recent victory was in this year’s FA Cup. It was a welcome result in several ways. It was our first win of the season, there was £1444 for club funds from the prize pot and we won well. Five-nil to the good we rather let things slide with gift goals in the dying minutes. I guess The Green might say they were rather generous with some of our five goals. They will be expecting to do better on Tuesday and looked to have tightened up their defence at Hertford on Saturday.

Our referee this Tuesday is Callum Parke and the assistant referees are Jack Peet and Andreas Anastasiou. Messers Parke and Peet are new to us but Mr Anastasiou ran the line for our 4-1 defeat at Hitchin last season. Hopefully he’ll bring better luck for this game.
