Our opponents
“The Irish” gained promotion last season after a very successful campaign in the Spartan South Midlands League which saw them lose just one game. They took an impressive 85 points from 34 games and scored 101 goals. It took a while for that form to be apparent in this season but they are now moving up the table. Formed as recently as 2020 from the merger of Milton Keynes Robins and Unite MK, they have done well to reach Step 4 so quickly.
Form guide
MK Irish have picked up after a slow start. They come into this game following a midweek defeat at Biggleswade but that was only their second reverse in eight games. The other was a 5-1 defeat at Stotfold so we have something in common. Those eight games have seen them score 21 goals and concede 17.
They find Ware on a run of three defeats but looking forward to being back at Wodson Park. Paul Halsey’s aim will be a return to the form that almost brought Leighton Town’s first league defeat in Ware’s last home game. Jack Grosvenor’s name is likely to be in the squad though maybe not in the starting line-up. Of the other injuries Herbie Townsend, Sam Mayuma and Finlay Titchmarsh all face further time in recovery.
Previous Meetings
We have met only once before. The reverse league match at Manor Fields back in September saw our ten men come from a goal down to win 4-3. Scorers were Reece Beckles-Richards with his first goal for the club, Theo Ofori, Sam Mayuma and Caiden Remy-Dee. Our report from that game can be found here.
Commentary
Pete and Symon will be at the game if you can’t make it yourself. They’ll be broadcasting commentary from 2.55 at https://90minuteslivefootball.mixlr.com/events/4670414
Match officials
Our referee for this game is Sam Wigington with assistant referees Andrew Owen and Richard Barlow. Mr Barlow was on the line for our 3-2 win at Welwyn Garden City earlier this season. Hopefully he will see us win again.
